High Deductible Health Plan Cost Calculator
Estimate your annual cost under a high-deductible health plan (HDHP) using premiums and expected medical spending up to the deductible.
Note: This simplified estimate assumes your cost-sharing before coinsurance is capped by the deductible. Plans vary (coinsurance, out-of-pocket max). Use for quick comparisons.
How to use this high deductible health plan cost calculator
- Enter your monthly premium for the HDHP.
- Enter your annual deductible amount.
- Enter your expected annual medical spending (allowed charges).
- Calculate estimated out-of-pocket (up to the deductible).
- See your estimated total annual cost (premium + out-of-pocket).
Example
If monthly premium is $220, deductible is $3,000, and expected medical spending is $1,800:
- Annual premium = $220 × 12 = $2,640
- Out-of-pocket (up to deductible) = min($1,800, $3,000) = $1,800
- Estimated total annual cost = $2,640 + $1,800 = $4,440
