Heating Oil Delivery Schedule Planner
Plan heating oil delivery timing based on tank size, current fill level, daily usage estimate, and a safety buffer.
Plan when to order heating oil so you don’t run low. This tool estimates the number of days until you hit your safety buffer, based on tank level and daily usage.
Common sizes: 275, 330, 500.
If you know current gallons instead, convert it to % first.
Use your estimate (or compute from season usage ÷ heating days).
Choose how you define “don’t go below this point.”
Example: 7 days buffer gives you a week of cushion.
Current oil in tank: 110.0 gal (40% of 275 gal)
Safety buffer: 21.0 gal
Days until reorder point: 29 days
Estimated reorder date (ISO): 2026-02-14
Days until empty (no buffer): 36 days
This is a planning estimate. Real usage changes with temperature, thermostat settings, and system efficiency.
How to use this heating oil delivery schedule planner
- Enter your tank capacity and current fill level.
- Enter your estimated daily usage (gallons/day).
- Set a safety buffer (days or minimum gallons).
- Review estimated days until reorder and an estimated run-out date.
Example
If tank is 275 gal, current fill is 40%, usage is 3 gal/day, and buffer is 7 days:
- Current gallons = 275 × 0.40 = 110 gal
- Buffer gallons = 3 × 7 = 21 gal
- Usable gallons ≈ 110 − 21 = 89 gal
- Days until reorder ≈ 89 ÷ 3 ≈ 29.7 days
